Prikið's Rich History
Prikið is one of Reykjavik, Iceland's most iconic and oldest cafés and bars, being founded 1951 in a house built 1989. It is known for its vibrant atmosphere, eclectic mix of patrons, and a significant place in the city's social scene. Established in 1951, Prikið is located on Bankastræti, a central street in Reykjavik. Over the decades, it has evolved from a traditional café into a popular bar and gathering spot, especially favored by locals, artists, and musicians.
During the day, Prikið operates as a cozy café offering a range of coffee, breakfast, and brunch options, including their famous burgers and hearty dishes. By night, it transforms into a lively bar and club with DJs playing a mix of hip-hop, R&B, and electronic music, drawing a younger crowd. The venue's charm lies in its retro interior, friendly staff, and the laid-back yet vibrant energy that makes it a staple in Reykjavik's nightlife. Prikið is home to Sticky Records, Icelands only pro-bono record label. It’s main objective since being founded in 2016, is to support local artists -the known and the un-known, to finalize projects and see them through with support of live events and physical renditions of work.
Prikið is not just a place to eat or drink but also a cultural hub where you can experience the local vibe of Reykjavik, making it a must-visit spot for both tourists and locals alike.
